The modern laptop trade is simple and slightly annoying. You get a thinner machine with better battery life, and in exchange you give up the ports. For a while you survive with one dongle. Then you add a monitor, a keyboard, an external drive and a wired network connection, and suddenly you are running a small and unreliable switchboard every morning.
